Supermoon

Moonrise over the Bulkley Valley last night. Smithers is a bit to the left from this viewpoint; Telkwa and the road to Prince George is to the right; straight ahead, a couple mills and farms, and then nothing until...I guess Russia's on the other side once you pass the north pole and start heading south again, right?

Jon catching up on photos

Yup, I finally got around to pulling some photos off my camera. Mostly photos of snow, consider yourselves warned.

Okay, oldest first...I think a month ago now, we snowshoed up most of the way to Crater Lake, and snowboarded (slowly) back down through crazy deep powder...apparently there can be too much of a good thing, at least when we're dealing with slopes shallow enough to not be at risk of avalanche.

A few times now we've parked at the base of the t-bar on the ski hill, hiked to the top, then ridden down one of the runs, followed by the ~5k trail to town. Here's a few pics from a couple of the trips, once just the two of us and once with a group of half a dozen.

Thanks to March Break, the hill's actually been open on a couple of my days off lately, so we got to ride down a bunch of runs without having to hike up them first. Luxury.

This is the last photo my little camera took, possibly forever (as I'm sure repairs would cost more than the camera is worth - thanks, modern economy). RIP fx150:

Postscript: that moose that's been crappin' on our lawn? She's been back a few times. Apparently they're good natural apple tree pruners. Who knew? I kind of feel bad for our neighbour's hedge, but hey, it's northern B.C., what are ya gonna do?
